Rutherglen is known throughout Australia and parts of the world for great wines,
gourmet food & produce, beautiful rural landscapes, the mighty Murray River and its interesting history.
It was founded on Gold, named after the birth place of a Scotish publican after a shout at Star Hotel's bar and was once home to some of the biggest wineries in the southern hemisphere.
On a visit to Rutherglen is hard to miss the old mine sites in the paddocks, grand old homesteads, rustic cellar doors, or the classic shopfronts as you stoll along under the shady veranders.
