Rutherglen is central to many towns and regional centres which make ideal day trips or places to visit while avoiding the trip home.

Corowa (10km)

Known as the home of federation, Corowa is situated on the banks of the Murray River and borders Wahgunyah in Victoria.

Chiltern (18km)

The historic streetscape of Chiltern has seen little change since the 19th century and has been used in several films including Walt Disneys Ride a Wild Pony. Chiltern Box Ironbark National Park is home to one of Australia's most endangered birds, the Regent Honeyeater.

Beechworth (40km)

Ned Kelly robbed the bank here and little has changed since. Described as Victoria's best preserved gold town, no trip would be complete without a trip to the Sweats Shop and the old Toy Shop.

Wangaratta (40km)

Perched on the edge of the Ovens River, Wangaratta in home to the National Jazz Awards.
